There are many ways to prevent the formation of kidney stones. Learn here how you can support your kidneys by choosing the right food and avoiding the wrong one.
And, if you already got them, there are still methods to get rid of them with or without surgical intervention. Find below the revival recipes for kidney detoxication and cleansing.
The kidneys are vital and absolutely amazing little organs in our body. The kidneys perform essential functions that keep the body healthy. These two small, bean-shaped organs filter toxins from the blood, balance mineral levels, and help regulate blood pressure. Each day, they process about 200 quarts of blood, getting rid of excess water and waste products, removing toxins, and keeping the body functioning smoothly. If the kidneys are not able to remove toxins and waste from the body, they will build up and hinder the normal function of the kidneys, liver, and other organs. It leads to exhaustion, stomach pain, headaches, water retention, and other problems.
One of the most common and well-known kidney diseases is kidney stones. Each year, more than half a million people go to emergency rooms for kidney stone problems. It is estimated that one in ten people will have a kidney stone at some time in their lives.
Kidney stones develop when certain substances, such as calcium, oxalate, and uric acid, become concentrated enough to form crystals in your kidneys. It seems that genes can play a role as well. Forty percent of the people who get kidney stones have relatives who have them too.
You may not have symptoms until the stones move down the tubes (ureters) through which urine empties into your bladder.
Small kidney stones most often pass through your system on their own. However, passing kidney stones can be quite painful. If you have ever passed a kidney stone, you probably would not wish it on your worst enemy, and you will do anything to avoid it again. Sometimes the stones reach large sizes that require a surgeon’s assistance.
Can kidney stones be prevented?
Even though kidney stones can be common and reoccur once you’ve had them, there are some simple methods that help prevent them.
Hydration is key. If you do not drink enough water, you do not make enough pee to flush the kidneys. That gives the stones more chances to form.
Even if you are in good health, your diet may encourage kidney stones to form and grow. Eating too much animal protein, such as meat, eggs, and seafood, can increase the risk of kidney stone formation.
Another approach is to limit fructose, phosphates, oxalates, and sodium in your everyday diet. But you should fall in love with lemons. Citrate, a salt in citric acid, binds to calcium and helps block stone formation.
Choose foods that support kidney health!

What to avoid if you have a tendency to form kidney stones
If you do not use the listed food daily, the risk can be minimized.
Fans of salty foods should know that the product causes fluid retention in the tissues of the body. The stagnation of water and urine is a catalyst for the formation of sand in the kidneys and urate stones. With a tendency to the disease, salt should be removed from the diet or seriously limited.
Meat lovers often suffer from gout due to the active production of uric acid. But this acid, concentrating and accumulating, also provokes the formation of sand in the urine. Few people know that the abuse of red meat also becomes the cause of kidney stones. The fact is that in the process of digesting beef in the body, a lot of nitrogen is produced. It is to blame for starting the process of forming stones. It is not necessary to completely abandon red meat, because it is a source of valuable proteins and amino acids. But it should be eaten no more than 2 times a week, preferably in boiled form.
Sodas are high in phosphate which can lead to the formation of kidney stones. Calcium phosphate stones can form in the kidney when calcium combines with mineral phosphorus. Always check the amount of sugar you consume. Foods high in sucrose or fructose increase your predisposition to developing kidney stones.
These foods, as well as rhubarb and green/red tomatoes, contain oxalic acid. With a tendency to form stones, these vegetables should be excluded, despite their rich vitamin composition. Harm in such a situation will be more than good.
These products are saturated with oxalic acid. Especially a lot of it in soy milk and soy cheese “tofu”. It is difficult for the kidneys to cope with such an amount of acid, which over time is converted into stones. Soy products, although useful and indispensable in the diet of vegetarians, still their use should be moderate.

Periodical detoxication can help your kidneys. Even though your kidneys are capable of detoxing on their own, they may not be functioning optimally. This can cause symptoms such as fatigue, bloating, and trouble sleeping.
Cleansing, or detoxication, of your kidneys improves their function and reduces bloating. Likewise, it also enhances your ability to process certain foods, absorb nutrients and convert food to energy, preventing fatigue. Flushing out waste and toxins prevents potential infection and reduces the risk of bladder problems. Similarly, cleansing the kidneys reduces the chances of having painful kidney stones.
Before cleansing the kidneys, it is recommended to consult a nephrologist and complete an ultrasound test for the presence of kidney stones. If the size of stones exceeds 4 mm, then kidney detoxication should be abandoned. Otherwise, the urinary ducts may become clogged, and surgical intervention will be necessary. If sand or microliths (the smallest pebbles) are found in the kidneys, then the detoxication of the kidneys should be carried out very carefully by choosing the most gentle method of cleansing. Let the cleansing of the kidneys be not so effective, but without serious complications.
Kidney cleansing is contraindicated in the cases of urolithiasis (kidney stone disease), renal failure (kidney failure), urosepsis, pyelonephritis, glomerulonephritis, and other diseases of the kidneys and bladder; pregnancy, breastfeeding; during menstruation; after surgery; post-infarction and post-stroke periods; in men with adenoma and other diseases of the prostate gland; tumors of the genitourinary system.
How can you detox your kidneys?
First of all, you can prevent kidney stones by changing what you eat or drink.
Preventive medication is an option for people who are at a greater risk of developing kidney stones. The type of medication will depend on the type of stones and can be determined by your doctor.
Well… They all have side effects.
By the way, it was a publication in the journal Nature in 2016 with evidence that the compound hydroxycitrate (HCA) effectively inhibits calcium oxalate crystal growth and, under certain conditions, is able to dissolve the crystals. Thus, HCA shows “promise as a potential therapy to prevent kidney stones,” the researchers wrote. Preliminary studies have shown that orally ingested hydroxycitrate is excreted in the urine, making it an excellent candidate as a stone therapeutic.
Some herbs, natural juices, or specialized diet plans claim to detoxify the kidneys. The idea is to promote healthy kidneys and prevent the formation of kidney stones. Kidney cleanses are also touted to help keep blood pressure in check, improve the urinary tract and bladder function, boost immunity, and clear toxins from the body.
Hydrangea and sambong teas are shown to be effective for kidney stone prevention. You can also try other healthy teas and drinks for your kidneys.
In addition to teas, a number of other natural ways were developed and used by generations to support and clean the kidneys. Here, we are sharing three revival recipes to do so.
Interesting facts about our kidneys
- The kidneys weigh from 120 to 200 grams, and the right one weighs slightly less than the left. They are located in the lower back, right under the chest. Usually, they are located asymmetrically to each other. The right kidney is usually smaller than the left and is located lower. This is caused by the fact that there is a liver there (most of it is located just on the right). The left kidney is larger and located higher since it is not disturbed by the liver.
- During the day, the kidneys filter up to 2,000 liters of blood. The full volume of blood passes through the kidneys 35 times a day. The total length of capillaries in the kidney is 25 kilometers.
In a day, this organ filters about 100 liters of urine. However, we all know that we do not excrete so much urine. The thing is that most of the filtered liquid (about 99%) returns back to the blood circulation. Thus, our body secretes only 1-1.5 liters of urine per day. It is also worth noting that the volume of final urine that our body removes mainly depends on the amount of fluid consumed and on the total volume of blood. - The kidneys produce the hormone renin, which is responsible for blood pressure levels. A person is born with two kidneys. However, in fact, we need only one. Yes, a person with one kidney lives no worse than one with two. Each kidney contains about 1-1.5 million nephrons. In Greek, “nephron” is translated as “kidney”. Nephrons are structural and functional units of the kidney where blood filtration occurs. A person needs only 300,000 nephrons, while there is 1-1.5 million of them in just one kidney.
- In the modern world, 11% of the world’s population suffers from kidney disease. According to statistics, the number of patients with nephrological problems is increasing every year. Renal (kidney) failure increases the risk of heart attack and stroke by 25 times.
- Surgeons removing stones from the kidneys were as early as the time of Hippocrates – in the 6-5 centuries BC. These people were called “stonecutters.” The first outstanding “stonecutter” of Russia was Ivan Venediktov, who lived in the second half of the 18th century. During his lifetime, he performed more than 3,000 operations to remove kidney stones.
- Indian surgeon Ashish Patil got into the Guinness Book of Records, removing 170 thousand stones from a patient’s kidneys. The operation took 4 hours. The patient survived and returned to a healthy lifestyle.
- The kidneys are the most frequently transplanted organ. In 2015, of the 110,000 organs transplanted in different countries, 76,000 were kidneys.

What if you already have kidney stones?
Some kidney stones are as small as a grain of sand. Others are as large as a pebble. A few are as large as a golf ball! As a general rule, the larger the stone, the more noticeable the symptoms.
The symptoms could be one or more of the following:
- severe pain on either side of your lower back;
- more vague pain or stomach ache that doesn’t go away;
- blood in the urine;
- nausea or vomiting;
- fever and chills;
- urine that smells bad or looks cloudy
The kidney stone starts to hurt when it causes irritation or blockage. This builds rapidly to extreme pain. In most cases, kidney stones pass without causing damage, but usually not without causing a lot of pain. Pain relievers may be the only treatment needed for small stones. Other treatments like extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) or a ureteroscopy might be necessary, especially for those stones that cause lasting symptoms or other complications. In severe cases, however, surgery may be required.
But, a very limited number of people know that there are methods to break down kidney stones naturally without surgical intervention. If I happen to have kidney stones and am scheduled for surgery, I would definitely try them first. They are natural and undeniably better than surgery! Actually, there is nothing to lose. However, don’t forget to consult with your doctor first.

What do you need: dark seedless raisins and black peppercorn.
What to do: Open one raisin into 2 parts; put 1 pea of pepper in the middle; close the raisin. This is your “pill”.
How to use: 1st day – 1 “pill”, 2nd day – 2 “pills”, 3rd day – 3 “pills” and so on up to 10. On the 11th day, you should also take 10 “pills”, and then reduce one at a time: on the 12th day – 9 “pills”, 13th day – the 8 “pills”, 14th day – 7 “pills” and so on to one. Be sure to chew thoroughly.
Take once a day – in the morning before breakfast. It is allowed to drink natural medicine with water since from the fifth day a strong burning sensation will begin.
After a 21-day course of 3 days, you need to drink diuretics. After a break (3 days), take “pills” for another 20 days according to the same scheme. And again, take diuretics and dried apricots for 3 days. A total of 3 complete courses are needed. At first, the urine may be cloudy, then, as the “sand” comes out, it will become more clear. People who tried this method attest that at the end of the course, there will be no kidney stones.
